About Us - Power of Words Project

About the Power of Words Project

Words are powerful seeds that, when planted in the heart of a community,
can grow into a unified vision...

The Power of Words Project is a humanitarian mural campaign that brings the Power of Words to life with transformative works of public art.

We call them “mural mantras.”

Award winning American artist Mia Tavonatti and her Svelata Foundation collaborates with schools, downtown development authorities, local arts organizations or whole cities to make these works possible. Once the partnership is established, each participating community is asked to elect ONE WORD that defines their vision for their future. These words are seeds that define and inspire growth and focus for the community. Mia’s professional mural team then works side by side with local artists and scholarship students to create murals inspired by each community’s chosen WORD. In addition to revitalizing communities with monumental works of public art and enabling local creatives, the POWP seeks to inspire a sense of ownership by engaging these communities and creating a tapestry of conversation which will lead to a greater understanding of and appreciation for the Arts and its value to society.
